Abundant Affirmations - Empowering Mamas and Kids, Too!

You know when your meeting about a project last three hours and the

time flies by, you’re in for something good.

Jen Hatzung of Abundant Affirmations and I met at one of my favorite local restaurants in the outskirts of Ghent, Norfolk. Twinkle lights and white wine abound. The scene was set for a glittering conversation as bubbly as a glass of champagne. The topic? How could we encourage working moms?

Jen started her affirmation card business with a focus on helping others establish healthy relationships with money. She and I both grappled with our relationship with the green beast:

Working to acquire it? Selfish.

Controlling it, instead of using it as a compass for all of your important decisions? Unwise.

Saving it? Miserly.

As Jen explained to me her heart behind the cards - how she wants others to have a healthy mindset when it comes to their finances - it struck me. I had an unhealthy relationship with money, too. It’s such a private thing for so many of us.

The culture I grew up in spent so much time teaching me that wanting success and security was wrong that I feel shameful looking for opportunities to save and enrich my family’s financial wellbeing.

I’d seen a few of her cards on Instagram, and I knew that if there was going to be a new set that incorporated a way to encourage moms - from working, to stay-at-homers - I wanted Valor to be a part of it.

Her cards are a tangible piece of cardstock with bright, fun colors. So much of our world is digital. These sets are meant to be meditated over. Flipped through while the laundry is tumbling in the dryer, or in the pickup line at school.

She has a set for the kiddos, too!

Just look at these beauties!

It was truly an honor to work with Jen, both on this set and with her email launch as well as her sales page. I think given enough time and merlot, we could accomplish pretty much anything.

Starvation? World peace? Child’s play.

Jen is proof that with enough hustle and small, incremental changes, big dreams can come true.
